Mosquitoes in South Texas Oct 20, 2008 This is probably a very good product in other parts of the country, but after extensive use, it does not work in South Texas.
Asian Tiger Sep 18, 2008 Lurex3 has worked well killing Asian Tiger mosquitos. However, I have not been able to identify any killed ones that do NOT have the ring-striped tails. I'm going to try switching back and forth with Octenol attractant (if I can remember where I put it when I switched to Lurex3).
Using it in a SkeeterVac, which takes both the cylindrical Lurex3 canisters as well as the rectangular Octenol.
Mosquito Magnet Plus is a BIG MINUS Aug 25, 2007 CAN'T WE GIVE A NEGATIVE RATING....ONE STAR IS WAY TOO HIGH A RATING.
After several emails and faxes of diagrams of the house, gazebo, deck and back yard, wind direction and questions, the MM people said that by changing the attractant to the Lurex, we would see results, something that hasn't happened in three years of attempts....and, after over a month
of the new attractant, the mosquitos are still biting, the net is empty and we are several hundred dollars of misspent funds lighter.
The attractant DOES NOT ATTRACT.

Works very well for me Jul 24, 2007 I live in south Louisiana. I have a very large property (10 acres). I bought two Mosquito Magnets to put behind my house where the kids play and our patio is. During the first part of the summer I don't use any attractant at all and the Magnets do a great job catching lots of mosquitos and we rarely get bit. In mid July though we start getting bit again. This time from black mosquitos with white stripes instead of the regular brown mosquitos. These are the tigers. I bought some Lurex3 and suddenly the traps started filling with mosquitos again and we are no longer being bitten. This is our second summer using the Magnets. I think they are great. One thing though, I felt like such a dummy. The Lurex came with no instructions. There was an orange sticker on the side of the tube that said remove to expose holes. I removed the orange sticker thinking I had done what I was told. Turns out I was supposed to remove the semi-clear rubber coating that is wrapped around the tube releasing the goo inside from the many large holes in the tube. I am probably the only moron who did not do it right, but just in case someone else was confused this helps a lot with the thing actually working!!! duh! hehe. I give 4 stars because they did not include verbose instructions for dummies like me.
This product does not work in the Washington, DC area. Jul 23, 2007 I have tried to get this product and the mosquito magnet to work at my home in the Washington, DC area for two years without sucess. The Asian tiger mosquitos fly around the , but are not caught. I am very dissapointed, especially since the mosquit magnet is very expensive, and I have a lot of mosquitos in my yard. I would recommend that you do not purchase this product if you have Asian tiger mosquitos.
Thank you for your time.
