Awesome Knife Sharpener Aug 15, 2010
I have used a lot of knifes over the years and always keep a pocket knife in my pocket. I never leave the house with out it and I always sharpen it.
This sharpener is absolutely incredible. 3 slides on each side 3 times and flip it over to the fine side and 3 times on each side and it is razor sharp.

I recently found myself overseas without a good stone to sharpen my knife. A quick check at Amazon located the DMT double sided diafold sharpener with corse and fine sides. After receiving the tool, I quickly got the edge back on my field and pocket knives. The corse diamond grit side is great to repair or start an edge and the fine side provides a usably sharp surface. While it will not compete with good Arkansas and Washita stones for an ultra sharp edge, it is light and folds up and is thus ideal for puting in your rucksack and it is also good for maintaining edged tools like machetes and axes. I highly recommend it for outdoorsmen, hunters, soldiers or anyone else needing a portable and capable tool to keep your edged tools and knives sharp.

I want to keep it short and sweet. I am deployed in the middle east we are using our fixed blade and folding knifes like crazy, this sharpener is what we now rely on.
I have had it for just under a week, I have sharpened over 12 blades they all come out great and less than 5 minutes maybe up to 10 depending on the condition of the blade.
I am buying the fine extra fine sharpener today in fact to get a better edge.

I try not to rate things 5 stars as I find it to be hyperbole. But this is a very nice stone and probably deserves it. I can't imagine this wearing out in my lifetime so as long as you don't lose it it never loses value, you can't beat that. It's the ideal combination of sharpening surfaces in my estimation, I can't imagine what the extra extra fine is for, surgical instruments maybe. With this stone you can get your blades literally razor sharp. I use it for sharpening all my pocket knives and kitchen knives. Now I kind of wish I hadn't bought that ceramic chefs knife...

I have had one for many years and recently bought one for my Dad for his Birthday. My Mom loves the results. I primarily use mine to sharpen my fillet knife. I can fillet a dozen fish before having to resharpen. Highly recommend.
