5I've owned one for over 15 years  Aug 18, 2010
I've owned this knife for over 15 years and I managed lose to it this weekend. So, I've just ordered a replacement. I couldn't be more happy with this knife. It is the sharpest knife I have ever seen right out of the box and it stays sharp for a very long time. It's lightweight and very easy to carry around in the pocket. The lock worked as well after 15 years as it did the day I got it.

As a follow-up: When I received this knife I was surprised to find that it is MUCH smaller than the one I thought it was. This kinfe is tiny (only 2.6" folded). But it was my mistake for not checking the description a little closer. Apparently I wanted this model: Gerber 22-06009 L.S.T. Drop Point, Fine Edge Knife which is 1" longer when folded at 3.6" and almost 2" longer when extended. I'm going to keep this one (my wife's going to hang it on her keychain) and order the correct one.

4Its a nice small knife.  Jul 23, 2010
I ordered this knife to keep in my hiking first aid kit and it is currently paired with my magnesium fire flint. I like the knife because it is light in weight, has good lock-up when open and is made from good quality materials. I would not carry this knife every day as it is too small for some tasks and doesn't fit my hand well but it is a great back up and is right at home in my backpack or first aid kit.

4Ideal Pocket Dweller  Jul 22, 2010
I got this knife for free when I bought a Gerber multi-tool. I had forgotten all about it when it arrived so I didn't really have any expectations, but the small size was quite surprising. However, I discovered that most of the things I use my pocketknife for (opening packages, stripping wires, scraping dirt, etc.) don't require a knife bigger than this one, and so this knife has seen quite a bit of use simply because it is easy to have around.

While this knife doesn't offer any bells and whistles, it is very small, very light, and very cheap. It is small enough that you barely notice it in your pocket, and cheap enough that you won't be devastated if you lose it. This makes it a good combination to carry around for day-to-day cutting needs. The blade quality doesn't seem to be up to par with more expensive knives from Gerber, but this knife's action is very smooth and satisfying. It also has an easy-to-use blade lock that keeps it from closing on your fingers.

I don't expect to be impressing my friends with the size of this thing, but for many day-to-day tasks this knife performs well.

5Great edge & handy companion!  Jul 21, 2010
This handy pocket pal holds a sharp edge, opens easily, feels light and comfortable, and is well crafted. I've carried one for years.

3It's a pen knife  Jul 17, 2010
Want something to slit open the tape on cartons? This would be a fine pen knife for that. The cracks about it being ideal for hunting (in the Gerber-written promo section) just plain crack me up. Doing what? Field dressing mice?

People are marveling that this thing is sharp. Please don't ever buy a real knife because if you think this little guy comes out of the box "sharp" then you'll risk cutting yourself to ribbons if you ever handle one that actually IS sharp.

Some time in the previous century, folder designers first invented the nail nick in blade backs to aid in opening the knife. Then they moved on to thumb studs, holes, funny little sticky out things; and, finally they gave us assisted openers. Now, I know that this pen knife is almost laughably tiny to need assisted open, but couldn't Gerber move out of the 1800's and at least do the nail nick? Nah. I guess all the 5-star folks only open the knife once a month so they don't mind using two hands.

Don't get me wrong. This is a better pen knife than those impossible-to-open things that Case et al sell. See ... I'm not all negative.
