sharp product Aug 15, 2010 This Gerber knife is possibly my favorite possession. I had one years ago and somehow got away from it. I cannot imagine a better value. Very low price for such a wonderful, simple knife. Thanks.
best little pocket knife i've ever owned Feb 13, 2010 thin, light, and stylish. and, it holds a nice edge. for the money, it is an excellent value.
Excellent little knife Dec 29, 2009 I've been carrying the same knife in my pocket for over 12 years. Thought I lost it once so I bought two more as backups. Found the old one and have never had to use the other two.
A small X type cheap ceramic sharpener from Lowes keeps this razor sharp. It dulls quick, but sharpens quick too.
For what it's worth, Gerber's website says "Made in USA" (not China)
best for the price, could be better, what the heck, it's discontinued Oct 11, 2009 I have had a few of these knives that have been sacrificed to the fates (lost), friends, airport TSB folks and courthouse security through the years, and always liked 'em. Nothing will beat the original version with micarta scales which was the classiest knife Gerber ever made. When they changed the blade and put on the nylon handle, they made a great knife that was inexpensive, yet a near-perfect design. It still is, and I'm sorry they discontinued them.
That said, the review pointing out that whoever grinds these blades does so unevenly was dead-on. Out of five knives I purchased, all but one were very unevenly ground--double the bevel on one side compared to the other. Grind was fairly coarse as well. On an inexpensive knife that starts sharp and will be sharpened a lot as time goes on, it will probably even out. It does not give me a lot of confidence about Gerber's other Chinese-made knives that sell for more money than the LST's.
I would still recommend both the large and small LST for every day carrying, survival kits and a back-up knife when camping. It's just disappointing to see such a great concept and classic knife suffer from uncaring construction.
best pocket knife ever Jun 04, 2009 I've been trying to find this knife for years. I believed Gerber had discontinued them. Very satisfying to buy them at a great price on this site.
